The above article stated:

“Two studies published in 2006 show that the same
thing happened again 8200 years ago, when the
Northern hemisphere went through another cold spell”

“In the new papers, one in the Proceedings of the
National Academy of Sciences and the other in the
current Quaternary Science Reviews, two teams of
researchers using different computer models say
that both models show that such a freshwater flood
could shut down ocean circulation in a way that is
consistent with temperature data from the time.”

extraterrestrial impacts can cause events very similar
to the Youmnger Dryas interval. They are:
